Junior Match Reports

The girls had their first game since November and were full of enthusiasm to play together against what turned out to be a strong Reading side. Due to Surrey commitments we had a few regulars missing but this gave the opportunity for some of the U14’s to step up to the team...

The coaches were all over the country or is it all over the place - over the weekend, at various matches, Ski resorts and Golden wedding anniversary parties. But nothing would stop them getting back to Broadwater for league games against Reading and Surbiton .... that is except Will who was still skiing but attending in spirit and receiving regular text updates...

2015-01-1386-200High stakes in Surbiton, the Under 14 Boys needed a win in the Premier league in order to stay in contention for one  of the top spots in the table and a possible place in the league finals. The boys were unfazed by any of the pressure (or were hopefully blissfully unaware of it!) and got on with the job at hand...

2015-01-25 BU10 2-200There are three things you learn as a coach on the first big away trip (up the M40 to Oxford) with your under 10s' team:

1) You need to give them more time before the 1st match to warm up/let the lunch go down after more than hour in the car

2) You need to keep sick bags in the back seats

3) How brilliant it is to see them gel together and improve their play over a few tough games...

2015-01-25 GU18 1-200On a cold but fortunately sunny day the team arrived at Guildford Hockey Club to play the second match against Epsom this season...

2015-01-25 GU10Teams-200On a very busy day for Guildford GU10s with matches taking place home and away, we took 2 teams to play Ashford and Old Georgians Young Dragons.  There was lots of effort from the girls and some results to be proud of.  Thankfully no-one made the legendary mistake of going to Ashford in Kent!

The GU12 Flames took on Camberley & Farnham at Broadwater on Sunday afternoon, seeking to avenge a 4-0 loss in the away fixture earlier in the season...

The GU10s put in a series of fine performances to win 8 out of 10 games against Epsom, scoring 33 goals and taking 1st, 2nd and 4th spots...

After a very well deserved Xmas break, four GU10 teams took on Wimbledon at GHC. It was great to be out on the pitches again...

2014-12-21 GU10 02U10 Girls go close to top at Teddington. On a cold and clear morning the u10 girls headed to the Teddington festival keen to do well and confident they had some decent form after a lot of hockey in the first half of the season.
