On reflection, Sunday was a good day at the office for the BU10 Plate team, largely due to a strong finish against two strong sides when we started to play the sort of hockey that we are capable of...

20160228GU10PlateB-200Hosting a tournament brings lots of distractions from the hockey but with frost free pitches, no rain forecast and cars being neatly slotted into place by our volunteer attendants, it was time to focus on the task ahead...

20160228MixedU8-200Another game day for the magnificent u8 squad full of young keen players.  The boys and girls have been a pleasure to coach on a Friday evening and we now have nearly 80 kids keen to play and learn with their friends.  We took 4 teams down to Aldershot & Farnham in the Siberian weather and a lot of fun was had in each of the teams...

An Arctic wind blew across the artificial green hockey pitch at Charterhouse on Sunday 28 February. And while the parents huddled bravely for warmth in the boys' dugout, the U14As took on the elements in their friendly against Sunbury.  Coaches Relph and Sampson had focussed the boys on playing with width, transferring via the backs, and staying aggressive, and from the first touch, we pressed hard up the pitch...

20160221BU14Cup-200After a bundle of games and a lot of training the U14 Boys faced a very simple choice on Sunday against a motivated Oxford Hawks side. Win and we were through and draw or lose and we would finish in 3rd place and not make the Mercian League Finals Day...

The girls were looking forward to the game against Woking. Upon arriving at the Woking pitch, they witnessed the Guildford U14 boys winning 3-0 so the motivation was there to show the boys that the girls can play good hockey too...

BU12-2016-02-07c-200A top of the table clash should be a good game and this was no exception. It was tense, A LOT of skill and desire were on show, 4 goals and some good saves...

GU10-B-07feb16-200The Girls U10s hosted a return fixture against Teddington, who brought 4 teams to play us on what turned out to be a blustery but (mainly) sunny day. Over 30 Guildford girls played including our 3 new U9 goalies that started with Adrian after Christmas. These were Ellie F, Milli W and Emma M’s first matches and they played for both Teddington and GHC on the quarter pitch games with huge enthusiasm. We look forward to them becoming our young Maddie Hinch’s for next season...

U820160207Team200What a great day the Under 8s had last Sunday. All the teams had fun and started to show some of the skills we have been practising every Friday...

When the astro was eventually unlocked, the boys got into formation after a quick warm up, which was much needed on a breezy, cold day. Our passing started strongly and we were playing with some width, pressing them well from their 22 and applying good pressure...
