Wokingham boosted by Havant play Gondoliers boosted by Pilgrims. Sounds like an interesting mix - and the 'Gondogrims' come out on top...

The Ashes; The Calcutta Cup; The Charity Shield... Our biannual fixture against local rivals Haslemere should, in reality, feature alongside other great matches in the sporting calendar.  Previous encounters have witnessed tectonic clashes 'twixt leviathan goalies & centre forwards; matches abandoned due to foul play; ruthless felling of defenders via stick-on-head clashes, and corporal tackles best reserved for Twickenham's hallowed turf. How would this latest derby shape up?

The concern was the dreaded half term game, who would be available and who would be holidaying in the south of France or in Tuscany sampling the new wine crops seeking the vintage of the future. Skipper Andy advised he had a plan...“ Pilgrims.”

The rain fell and the Gondoliers were put to the sword. Previous contests with Oxted have been closely fought affairs. Not so this time...

Last week we managed 2-2. This week, we had a tough game against Havant and ended up losing 4-0. There was plenty of fighting spirit and the scoreline flatters Havant in what was. in reality. a closely fought match for most of the game...

So with most Shadows alarm clocks set for about 7.30am on a Saturday for a match starting at 10am in the depths of Merton, there was bound to be some bags under the eyes. Read how the guys overcame them for their first win of the season...
