MixedU14 WestHertsTournament-200West Hertfordshire HC invited a few clubs of Under 14s and 16s for some summer 7 a side. Well worth the trip to Watford on a hot July Sunday. Guildford Under 16 Boys came away winners as did our Mixed Under 14 side! Two more trophies! And three Guildford players were in the mix for Player of the Tournament...

GuildfordAllstarsVAldershot-200On Sat 28th June, Guildford HC were invited to the Army Hockey Centre in Aldershot for a friendly game against an Aldershot based Army team. Jack Hillier, Captain of the Aldershot team, organised the event as part of the Armed Forces Day celebrations. Many, many thanks to Jack on behalf of Guildford for hosting! Here's how it went...

BU14FinalsDay2014-05-093-200Having successfully hosted the England Hockey Under 10 Boys and Girls County tournament in March, Guildford did it again, this time for the 36th annual Mercian Home Counties Colts Hockey League Finals Day. Our boys' U14, 16 and 18 teams play in the Mercian League and Finals Day is a chance to wrap up the season by having the top four finishers in each age group play each other for League honours. What a terrific opportunity to see the clubhouse buzzing again before the summer break. Have a look at how it went and who ended up with a special award...

1963-peter-gordon-1-crop-thumbThe National Hockey Museum is having new life breathed into it. When the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes closed, the museum lost its home; its pieces and archives were put into storage. Now with a new home in Woking and a motivated group of volunteers, the museum is back on track to showcase a rich history of our sport.

England Hockey's annual In2Hockey Under 10 County Finals were held on Sunday 2 March at Guildford Hockey Club. More than 50 teams from across Surrey came together to compete in a round robin of games leading to play-offs to determine the top performing teams in the County.

It was a brilliant opportunity for these young players to focus this season’s learning in a series of competitive matches. Many of the players will only have started playing hockey a few months ago and the progress that all players and teams across the county have made in that time is impressive.

2014-02-618-200Ian 'Jenno' Jennings was at it again with his team of 1st XI player/coaches. Junior players of all abilities enjoyed two days of training during the February half-term break.

As always for these courses, the rain stayed away (mostly) and dozens of junior players went away happy and exhausted with improved skills.

2013-12-101cThree teams of Guildford HC boys travelled to the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona for the XXVIIth Torneo Inernacional de la Inmaculada Trofeo Marga Monegal, one of Europe's most prestigious youth competitions. Teams were there representing clubs from Spain, Italy, Russia, Belgium and England.Twenty-three Guildford boys were accompanied by coaches and parents to make up a travelling band of 60...

2013-11-766cSport Godalming hosted their 11th Sports Awards at Charterhouse Club on Friday 22 November. The evening included inspirational stories of sporting success, volunteering and commitment from the year in sport. Guildford Hockey Club youth came away with two awards on the evening.
