GHCSummerHockeyLaserQuest2016-08-200Well done to all who came out for Summer Hockey on a Wednesday evening throughout the summer. Some evenings we had more than 50 players enjoying 7-a-side in a social atmosphere. Many thanks to Amanda McAllister who organised this...

M1vBlueharts20160816-2The Men's 1s had their first pre-season game on Saturday, a friendly against visitors Blueharts. A good solid start to build upon and a 1-0 win (need some practice shooting on open goals apparently). Next pre-season match Saturday 27 August at GHC v Lewes.  Come and support. Photos from last week below...

Former GHC Gondolier Danny Puttick has written a "salvete" for good friend and Gondolier, Bill Comyn, who sadly passed away in August after a long illness. It is always sad to hear of the passing of a GHC member but nice to know that our members will remain in our hearts forever...

SusieGilbert201607-2-200It all started with a letter a few months ago from Stephanie to GB International player Susie Gilbert.  Finally the day had come. Susie arrived at Tillingbourne School, gave an inspiring speech to the year 6 pupils and answered (many!) questions...

JaneBullockIn 2006 Jane Bullock joined Guildford Hockey Club.  She became a likeable and integral part of the ladies 2's, helping them to secure promotion from Div 2 to Div 1 in her first season.  Jane was not only an active hockey player she also offered support to the club.  She obtained sponsorship for the ladies 2's from Snack a Jacks, helped out at colts training and even supplied a sound system for the club house.  There are many pictures from hockey socials, fancy dress nights and do's in posh frocks!  Jane was a popular lady and made many good friends for life...

GHC logo - maroon - best - no text - 100A kit task force was put together a few weeks ago with the objective of finding the best solution for our members to have quality kit at an affordable price from a reliable supplier and to achieve better uniformity across the club. The kit committee included representation from the Men, Ladies and Juniors. Many suppliers and retailers were considered. The options were narrowed down to two and the club membership was asked for input. The kit committee has made a decision based on much research and input...

Ian RussellIan Russell has been part of Guildford Hockey Club for far longer than most current members have been alive, 55 years. Most recently, Ian has served as President and then co-President along with Maggs Kyte.

Ian has given up his role as President; he is moving away from the Guildford area to Romsey in Hampshire. Not too far but far enough that we are unlikely to see him coming to the club on a regular basis to support matches and speak with members as he has done on so many occasions.

When our Under 12 Boys won the National title in 2013, Ian posted each teammember a personal, handwritten letter of congratulations - the first (and maybe only) time these boys have received a handwritten letter in the post. It was this attention to detail that Ian brought to Guildford along with his passion for the sport and the club. In his own words, below please find a few farewell thoughts from Ian...
