Ladies Match Reports

11

The Ladies 1s faced Henley this week. This was once again a game that the Ladies were desperate to win to keep themselves out of relegation. It was a hot day and perfect weather to go out and win!

On a bright and sunny day at Broadwater, the Ladies battled against Surbiton. A close affair but who came out on top...

The Ladies 1s were away against Spencer on the 22nd of Feb. They needed to win again to stay out of the relegation zone and Spencer are a tough opposition who can be very physical. The Ladies were expecting a hard game and Spencer did not disappoint. The pressure was on from the start.

The Ladies 1s had a home fixture against Marlow on the 15th and the weather was not looking promising! We needed to win again to stay out of the relegation zone and Marlow were trying to secure their mid-table position. Surbiton had been losing as their international players were away, so, Guildford needed all the points they could get to stay ahead of Oxford who were playing Surbiton...

The Ladies 1s were out of the relegation zone for the time being, but as two teams go down, Guildford need to make sure we win a few more to stop teams below catching up. We felt we could possibly beat Brighton and were ready for a tough game against them.

After the previous week’s win, the Ladies 1s were still 2nd from bottom and in the relegation zone but on the same points as Oxted, so needed a win to move ahead of Oxted into the safe zone. Up against Eastcote, the Ladies knew they could win this one - they felt much more cohesive team than the last time they played Eastcote...

Hard work in defence and a few short corner opportunities for Guildford and the scoreline went our way today. Great work, ladies!!!!

The Ladies 2s met the Wanderers this week. With a few defections from the squad over the holdiay period, the re-start after Christmas was always going to be tough. The ladies did very well to earn a point from this match. Read about how they managed and what it might mean...

Another week and another win!

Richmond 1 - 4 Guildford

Only 11 players available this week and a fixture that can be tricky.  Match start time came and went as three of our players were stuck in the rugby traffic! We exercised our right to a short delay and then we were 9, another few minutes and we made it to 10 so had to start the game.

We approached this game with some trepidation as Wimbledon had had four very high scoring wins in previous weeks - including an 8 nil! So arriving in the rain to find them already on the pitch preparing for the game added to our anxieties!
