M1s Net 6 in In Crucial Win

 18th Jan 2020

20200118-M1vMK-4The GHC Mens 1s needed a win to stay in touch with the top four teams in the South Premier. Thankfully we came out on top, but so did the other three teams at the top. So, we go into another crucial week ahead, taking on Tunbridge Wells away from home.

Back to Saturday: from the onset is was a tightly contested match – but we were always just ahead of the Milton Keynes boys. Penalty strokes apiece each accompanied by a number of uncharacteristic errors from both teams lead to some early goals. It was only in the last 15 minutes that we put the game out of reach of the visitors, and Ross Fergusson scored a Brace in the last few minutes.

Sam Plater put in a super shift, as consistent as ever, and was awarded Man of the Match. Ben Rees was excellent on his debut - it is always good to see the products of a good junior system coming through into the top team at the club. Will Porter also had another excellent game for the 1st XI.
