Men's Vets Host Puritans, Handbags and Llamas

 21st Dec 2019

20191221-Vets1Despite being the league mid-season break and only a few shopping days before Christmas, GHC was busy as ever on Saturday 21st December with 4 teams of over 50s Vets...

The Puritans, Handbags and Llamas were out in full force for an afternoon of games and merriment. Players from many, many clubs were involved including a number from GHC.

After the games, the group filled up the clubhouse while the Junior Alumni (uni and gap students) took over the pitches. There was a good buzz in the clubhouse, brought to even more life by an informal chat delivered by Roger Dakin, England Hockey goalkeeper from the 1970s!

Roger was highly entertaining (some humour may have been on the edge but perfect for the demographic who had played that day) and it was great to have him. The crowd then broke into an impromptu rendition of Jerusalem as the younger generation starting filtering into the bar area.

A great time was had by all - an event to repeat again and again...
