The team were in good voice to start the day with a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday for Shay ahead of the team briefing... This along with the secret santa present sack in the middle of the changing room set the tone for the day.
The team were determined to enter the Christmas break on a high, having had a bit of a rollercoaster start to the season. The Ladies started the game in very positive fashion having the majority of the possession with Maidenhead finding it difficult to get into the Guildford half.
Guildford created a lot of opportunity but were unable to capitalise on the early chances. However, after 10 minutes one attack resulted in Kelly Taylor finding the net. Maidenhead tried to counter after the goal, but Guildford kept the pressure on. It was not until shortly before half time that Guildford scored their second with an excellent reverse stroke shot from Kerryn Swanepoel.
Maidenhead started the second half in an attacking style trying to capitalise on breaks, but the Guildford Defence and keeper held firm and Guildford themselves counterattacking. On one such attack Guildford won a penalty corner which Jenna Wiles converted to give a 3-0 advantage.
Guildford continued to be dominant, with good attacks, but failed to find the net so the result remained 3-0 to Guildford. We now have a break until the end of January, but the Ladies are playing in the South indoor finals this weekend.
