Saturday was a tough reminder for GHC Men’s 1s of the strength of this league.
Wayfarers blew us out the water in the first 15 minutes of the game, and unfortunately, we were unable to respond quick enough to change our fate.
Phil Ball brought a very experienced and calm side to Broadwater on Saturday. They were clinical in front of goal and immensely disciplined in defence.
There had been an opportunity for us to go one up before the goal frenzy started...a well-worked move down the right-hand side saw Remke enter the D on the baseline before passing a pinpoint ball to an unmarked Fergusson. But in a sign of the type of game it was going to be, on this occasion our top goal scorer didn’t manage to convert.
We scored somewhat of a consolation goal just before half time but going into the break 1-4 down in a competitive league was always going to be a tough ask. We fought, changed our formation, but didn’t quite manage to change the final result.
Next weekend we are down at Southampton to play Trojans in the last game before the Christmas break.
Goal Scorer: Matt fitter
Man of the Match: James Bennett
