Men's 1s Show Grit and Determination to bring home all 3 points

 23rd Nov 2019

20191020-Mens1TeamSaturday meant a long drive for the Guildford Men ahead of another away fixture in the South Prem league. We were well versed on the dangers and strengths of the impressive Banbury side, lower down on the league table than they should be.

The game started well, with Fergusson scoring two goals within the first 10 minutes through two well worked corners, before the returning Remke absolutely smashed a reverse stick into the top corner. The Banbury keeper had no time to even flinch.

It was a very familiar tale from then on: we had a few more chances to take the game away from Banbury but instead, taking our foot off the pedal, we let the momentum gradually swing in favour of the home team.

However, in the end I was personally impressed with GHC’s sheer determination to grind out an away victory. Harry Relph, Joel Cant and Freddy Esplen were exceptional in showing superior calmness, way beyond their years.

This weekend we play our last home game before the Christmas break against second in the league, London Wayfarers. The game starts at 16:30 - some good home support will be welcomed on Saturday afternoon!

P.S. It is also one of the club legendss last home game before he jets off on travels before University. Freddy Esplen will be running out onto Fortress Broadwater for the last time this season.

Goal Scorers:

  • Tylo Remke
  • Ross Fergusson (2)

Man of the Match – Jayme Crouch
