Saturday saw the Ladies' 1s take the short trip up the A3 to Surbiton for an early morning fixture.
Guildford won the toss and the game started in a positive way with Guildford having a lot of the possession. It was not long before a well-worked series of passes found Kerry Jennings taking a shot that found the back of the net to give Guildford the lead.
Surbiton responded and within five minutes equalised. Guildford continued to attack, creating a number of chances, finally, culminating in a penalty corner. Julia “JJ” Blackstock converted to give Guildford the lead going into half time.
The second half continued in the same way as the first with Guildford having a majority of the game. Half way through the half one attack was converted by Kelly Taylor to extend the lead, 3-1.
Surbiton were frustrated by the Guildford defence who kept their attacks at bay. Goal keeper, Alice Cobb Also kept the Surbiton forwards at bay making some great saves. The game finished as a 3-1 victory to Guildford.
Man of the match Alice Cobb.
