For many GHC teams, Saturday saw just their second home game on the new and improved blue pitch.
Unfortunately for the Men’s 1s, our game got underway well below par. Tunbridge Wells had the lion’s share of chances on goal and had the mental and emotional upper hand in the first half.
We had one good chance that “could/should/would have” changed the momentum of the first half, but as they say, if I was born in America, I “would have” been an Astronaut. We narrowly missed out on a chance after a fantastic through ball from Dan Fox to the target man Ross Fergusson, who slid a well waited pass to the back post.
However, the second half saw us score three unanswered goals. We relied on our superior fitness to wear down the opposition. Well done on a well fought, albeit messy, victory.
That said, our general field play needs to be better in the coming weeks to maintain our unbeaten start to the season.
