After a tough fixture against Oxford the previous week, the Gondoliers were keen to get their mojo back against a traditionally weak Havant.
Havant arrived short of players and borrowed the Pilgrims' keeper and Nick Mowat and Chris G. We were joined by one new player, Tony, who is a welcome addition and had a good game.
The Gondoliers were completely in control throughout the first half and produced many chances, however, the Pilgrims' keeper was not going to be beaten easily. Eventually a quick slip pass from SWL caught the Havant defence asleep and Gordon was able to slot one past him.
Despite constant pressure and several short corners it remained only 1-0 at half time.
The second half continued the same with all Gondolier pressure. Matt Penney came on for an injured Mullins and this added mobility culminated in two more goals: one a beautifully taken deflection from Gordon off a Penney cross and the second a Penney mis-hit bouncer which foxed everyone.
A win is a win but to be honest the Gondoliers performance was dreary like the weather.
