The Ladies 1’s took to the new pitch to take on Teddington 1’s...
Both teams played at a high pace but Guildford gained more possession and this started to frustrate Teddington. Eventually the deadlock was broken when Guildford were awarded a short corner. The resulting shot was saved however the rebound was well worked and Kelly Taylor found the net.
Teddington tried to come back, but some excellent defending by Libby Leadbeater and Jenna Wiles kept the Teddington attack at bay. Guildford repeatedly counter-attacked with Julia “JJ” Blackstock causing the Teddington players a few problems and creating a good number of opportunities for the home team to increase the score, but they were unable to capitalise.
The second half continued in the same way as the first but this time Teddington took advantage and against the run of play were able to score to bring the scores level. Guildford worked hard and had more opportunities to score, but were unable to re take the lead. The final score was 1-1.
Man of the Match was JJ.
Next week the ladies head off to Witney.
