GU12s at Woking Imps

 3rd Mar 2019

In potentially the heaviest driving rain of the season, a strong Woking side took the initiative from the start, showing desire whilst putting some great passing moves together...

Woking put the Storm goal under threat throughout the first 2 quarters, but Olivia and Lola showed great resilience in defence with well-timed tackles and clearances. With Annouk in goal making a number of outstanding saves, Storm managed kept the deficit to 1-0 down at the end of the first half.

With no let up in the weather the girls came out fighting in the second half. With more movement and speed on the passes it became easier to build attacks and a number of short corners resulted. Despite not being able to convert the short corners momentum started to shift.

With Amelie, Beth, Caitlyn D and Isobel combining well in midfield more chance came. Caitlyn B, Annabelle both created good chances, but it was Florence who finally pulled Storm level with a well taken shot. Further pressure came in the 4th quarter and will some better passing Storm capitalised on the opportunity with Florence adding a second and Annabelle firing home from the left. 3-1 win to Storm.

A well earned win for Storm showing great resilience in dreadful playing conditions! Well done all and a special mention again for Annouk who kept the team in touching distance! Many thanks to Woking and all the parents for making the trip and your support, much appreciated!
