Men's 1s Three Players Score 2 and Two Fitters Score 1 v Slough

 9th Feb 2019

20181013-M1sTeamOn Saturday afternoon the Ladies set the standard once again with another comfortable win against local rivals Havant HC, before Slough arrived to take on our Mens side. After a few frosty weeks and some cancelled training sessions, we were relying on individuals to put in the extra work required to continue making positive strides.

The hard work paid off. With 20 minutes of high intensity and high-quality possession, it was the best start to a game this season so far. We wore the opposition down with short and accurate passes and Slough had no option but to try to break down our attack through what most would consider ‘unconventional tactics’ in the modern game.

Fergusson, Mullon and Remke scored a brace each, while Matt Fitter had a nice finish to score his first in several weeks. Sanderson, Rodgers and Alex Fitter were explosive from the bench, drifting past their opposite numbers with ease.  The moment of the game came from our Fitter brothers combining to score the seventh goal. Matt to Alex, back to Matt, back of the goal!

Word on the street is that one of our unsung heroes will be leaving us after this weekend. It is difficult to imagine anyone with a harder work ethic than this GHC player and it will be sad to see him go. Full details to follow in next week's report.

Our next challenge is away against Staines on Saturday afternoon.

Ross Fergusson still tops the South League Prem Div 2 goal scoring list. Here is how the rest of the goal scorers are faring:

  • Fergusson (22)
  • Remke (11)
  • M. Fitter (7)
  • Plater (7)
  • Sanderson (6)
  • Mullon (6)
  • Ayala (3)
  • Dellis (2)
  • Esplen (2)
