With a team in Barcelona and another at Teddington, the Under 12 Girls showed the depth and commitment of their squad with two additional teams taking on tough teams from Woking and Wimbledon...
Guildford Hurricane v Woking
Guildford GU12 Hurricanes travelled to Woking to take on what turned out to be their 2nd 7. This was a mismatch from the off but the girls showed great determination right through the whole match.
Woking were bigger, stronger and more experienced and raced into a 4-0 lead after the first 15 minutes.
A more cohesive performance in the start of the second quarter saw us strong some passes together with Molly scoring a deserved goal. Despite some great saves from Louisa we conceded another 4 goals.
The third quarter was frustrating with the girls creating a few more chances. Tilly finally finished a nice move with Susannah providing a nice cross. However Woking had scored another 3 in this quarter.
The final quarter saw Woking remain dominant but the Hurricanes did not give up having the last say with a nicely taken chance by Susannah after some sustained pressure and nice link play from Molly, Grace and Lara. We finished strongly which was a testament to the girls’ spirit throughout.
Some hard lessons learnt in a crushing defeat.
We must remain calm on the ball and remember to complete the wide passes and look to take the free hits we get quickly in such games when possession doesn’t come easily.
Squad: Martha F (captain), Louisa C, Tilly F, Ruby M, Molly P, Alexandra K, Grace C, Susannah L and Lara D.

Guildford Storm v Wimbledon
On the whole it was a tough match, Wimbledon started strong and ended strong. Our girls played hard and never gave up but were unfortunately beaten 4-0.
Anouk made some fantastic saves, kicking the ball far for our girls to pick up. We drove a few down the wing but not enough, the ball often got caught in the middle of the pitch with Wimbledon picking up the ball quickly.
Our backs did a stellar job at clearing the balls and some tremendous tackles which saved goals.
Our mids did well with a lot of running and maintained their hold for a while but lost the balls when trying to get it out to the forwards. When the forwards received the ball, there were some great ball skills under pressure but the wings were not used enough.
I’d like to congratulate the girls on staying strong and steadfast under pressure, they played their hardest until the end
