Saturday's game was nearly one of those games where despite trying everything we nearly didn't get the ball over the line - until at 58 mins Charlotte poked the ball past the Camberley keeper, rapidly followed by Katie slapping the ball into the goal.
We were always attacking and - on another day - would have scored more goals, but the Camberley defence were wily campaigners who read the game well. It's not easy to find the way through a packed defence and this week our short corners were not as slick as previous weeks.
You can't often win games with a leaky defence and ours was once again rock solid with Martha, Cecelia, Lois, Kat and Alex holding all their forwards at bay…apart from the odd wobble when Hannah made a brilliant double save.
Our midfield of Kath, Jenny, Tash and Emily ran their socks off again - even when the deluge came towards the end. The forwards battled through the circle so many times, with near misses from Eloise, Cathy and probably about three others as well.
In the end, our passing in those last ten minutes won the game - proving that you have to keep going to the final whistle. A good win that took us to second place in the league, just behind our ladies 4's!
