The Mens First XI were away at Tulse Hill and Dulwich on Saturday afternoon. The traffic getting there was enough to put anyone off, with four players arriving after the start of the game.
However, within the first few minutes, we settled down into what would be a good day out on the pitch. Counter attack after counter attack, Guildford were turning over ball over moving forward with incredible speed and fluidity, creating several fantastic opportunities.
Within the first 20 minutes, the Tulse Hill goal keeper had won man of the match, having made some remarkable saves. Unfortunately for him and the oppositions defenders, Guildford broke through to score two brilliant goals, courtesy of Ferguson and Fitter, before half time.
The second half was an even affair and a good competitive game of sport for both teams. The only way past the Guildford defence was from the penalty spot. The game ended 2-1 to Guildford, leaving us top of the league with one round to play.
The Men’s First XI have had a super start to the season, but arguably the toughest test of the season so far will come this Saturday, with several key players unavailable and Wycombe working hard to stay in the top 4.
Start time is 14.30 at Broadwater School, Saturday 8 December.
