Two teams of Under 10 Girls travelled to Surbiton with no subs for a full set of matches and some superb experience...
Hurricane
We arrived at Surbiton to be playing six matches with just one break. This was a great challenge for the team as we also only had six players. Everyone seemed up for the challenge and the warmup went really well. As always we made sure we all knew each other’s names during the warm-up and then we were good to go.
Through the matches each player played at least two positions and we were also fortunate to score some great goals which meant some of our more attacking players could then take a turn in defence.
The girls were great to coach and everyone is really starting to understand more about their position on the pitch was is great to see. We also set some goals such as playing quickly and passing out wide which they all tried really hard to work on during the game. In the end the team won three matches and drew three matches which was an excellent result.
The girls should be very proud as some of them hadn’t played together before and also they didn’t get a break at all. Well done and hopefully they got a rest in the afternoon!

Storm
Another tough day in the office for the Storm team. However, having half of the team off sick and with some Hurricane girls coming to the rescue, the team did better against Surbiton than last time we were there. So although we managed to draw one match and loose the rest narrowly, overall it was a great improvement and training is starting to pay off!
Martha, Millie and Bea worked really hard at the front. We have a strong opposition but the girls kept on moving forward and were unlucky to have not score.
At the back with Rosie, Caitlin and Hannah we were making sure that we were defending our D as best as we could. Although the girls are not used to play with each other they should be very proud for how they play on Sunday and there was a noticeable improvement in positioning, attacking and defence. We just needed to score!
A great experience for the girls and we thank Surbiton for having us once again.
Well done everyone!
