It was a slow start to the day, but after some forgotten gum shields and shin pads, the Shadows eventually assembled a full team.
Back to the trusty old 4-4-2 with a diamond. The Spencer Breezes pressed high, but some good movement and passing kept them at bay. The Shadows created plenty of chances and were looking dangerous, winning a few short corners and narrowly missing out on some goal scoring opportunities.
Overall it was a strong first half, and it really felt like the Shadows were the more dominant team. Unfortunately, a few minutes before the end of the half, a short corner was given and the Shadows conceded.
All was still to play for, with both teams working hard and finding chances.
Fortune then favoured the Spencer Gusts, with a ball in deflected onto the post and eventually put into the back of the net. However, the Shadows were very much still in the game.
Not long afterwards a fast break away led Nick to the top of the D with time and space. A wonderful strike to the back post and a clean, clinical tap in from myself (Nobody can prove otherwise), brought the Shadows up to 2-1.
Despite the best efforts of the team, we were unable to equalise before full time.
