Ladies 1s Continue Early Season Success

 6th Oct 2018

Last Saturday saw the Ladies1st XI travel to Acton, North London to take on PHC Chiswick who had narrowly lost their first two games...

Guildford started the game with a high degree of confidence and were attacking from the off. Chiswick were working well breaking down Guildford’s attack, making it difficult to create scoring opportunities. The weather started to play its part and the torrential rain caused mistakes for both sides.

However, eventually Guildford’s persistence was rewarded with a goal for Kelly to take the lead. Chiswick came back and one of their attacks unfortunately hit an outstretched Libby's back of stick, just outside the D. Chiswick were awarded a stroke and Guildford were down to 10 players. They scored the flick to bring the scores level.

Chiswick were unable to capitalise on their player advantage and Guildford were growing in dominance, our superior fitness showing. Once we were back up to 11 players we earned a short corner which was converted by Niamh to give us the lead. Guildford were now in control of the game and the final result was a 2-1 victory to Guildford.

The team made a day of it returning to Guildford Spectrum for an afternoon of bowling.
