The First XI opened their account on Saturday against an experienced and well drilled West Hampstead side...
There was a grand total of seven debutants representing GHC, with the first Rwandan national to ever represent the club! Jake Vincent has rewritten the fines book, being late on debut!!
Sam Plater scored the opening goal on his return to the Club following a season on the side line - great to have the ultra marathon running, Charterhouse staff member back on the team.
Following Sam's goal, the GHC defence was put under tremendous pressure for the next 20min ultimately leading to a stroke which was confidently put away by West Hampstead.
Last season's top goal scorer, Ross Ferguson, scored moments before half time to give the 1s a 2-1 lead at the break. The second half was one sided to say the least, goals from Remke (2), Esplen and Fitter and a consolation from West Hampstead ended the game at 6-2.
Having not been selected for the Gondoliers on the weekend, Gary Boucher played well for the First XI on Saturday. Thank you to James 'John Terry' Relph, who had his kit on under his suit and Tony Hall for managing the bench.
Next week the team are at home for the first time this season, playing host to Trojans at 2pm.
