It was a sunny, hot day for the Shadows this afternoon with bright blue sky. After lots of waiting around there was a very prompt start with not much warm up…
The first half began with Woking holding possession well with many opportunities coming for them and with them converting 2 goals. The first one came from an unfortunate foot on our goal line by James that gave them a penalty flick which they scored into the roof of the net.
After this wakeup call the Shadows came back having a few quality chances down the other end which unfortunately weren’t converted. However, after this phase Woking began to come strong again, scoring another goal where the Woking foward had a great shot from the top of the D.
Towards the end of the first half the home teams grand stand crowd began to flood in being very distracting leading to Jordan getting frustrated and pushing the ball away and out came the green card. Halftime came and the boys kept the talk positive with bits we had to work on.
Jordan was back on for second half which began with Guildford becoming the more dominant side and having some attacking time on the ball. This slowly fizzled out and Woking came back with some cracking chances but failed to convert. As the game drew to a close it was safe to say that the Shadows had a better second half pressing and creating fast attacks but the final whistle blew at 2-0. If the Shadows start like this for every game and work on converting chances into goals it could be a good season ahead. BRING ON THE NEXT GAME!!!
