On a bright September morning the Shadows took to the field after the summer break with renewed energy and positivity about the season ahead.
A friendly with Woking HC was a perfect opportunity to blow away the cobwebs. With a few honorory Shadows lending a hand (JY, Paul, Alex, Rob and Matt R) we took to the field with a balanced side of experience and youth. Having survived the previous season on goals difference the aim this season was to score more and with 3 up front we set about doing this.
There were strong debuts for Rory G who provided good width upfront and showed his skills on the ball, and James Mcdiarmid who was solid and distributed from the back well. Tim Wright was back on the score sheet twice, picking up where he left off last season. There was lots of positives for the season proper and wed training will help get us back into the swing of things.
Final score 4-4
