What a morning! Every single one of the U10 boys in the South Final team played their part in creating a piece of Guildford HC history and hopefully some fond memories for themselves. It has been 5 years since Guildford have lifted this trophy; Canterbury have won it for the last 3 years so kudos to the boys for beating the trophy holders today...
I felt that winning today was a fitting end to a successful season and a wonderful achievement to win every game. I think by scoring 14 goals in the six games and only conceding 3, the boys were able to demonstrate that they we were the best team in the tournament.
Like last year, the Teddington match in the Quarters proved to be our hardest game on many levels, but thankfully they pulled through in the last minute! Whilst I know that all of our stress levels peaked during that game, it wouldn't have been fitting to go out at that stage. Nor would it have been right to lose to Wimbledon in the final.
Thank you to all you parents for your commitment over the season, I appreciate that there have been some long distances to cover in the last few weeks and some very cold Friday and Sundays to endure!! Without that commitment however, the boys would not have been able to develop as far as they have and today would not have been the success it was.
Finally, I know that they weren't at Surbiton today but a huge acknowledgement must also go to time and effort that Sam and Richard have put into the boys U10 this year as without them the team would not have the organisation the boys benefited from today.
Have a great summer and I hope that you boys enjoy being a part of the best team in the South !!!
