Men's 1st Team Have Promotion in Sights after THD Draw

 10th Feb 2018

20180201-Mens1Team-660Having beaten TH & D at home earlier in the Season, the Men's 1st team were confident of success to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Within the first minute Guildford opened the scoring when a mis-hit shot from Alex Fitter bobbled over the goalkeeper's stick and trickled into the net. Alex's first league goal of the Season which is not a bad statistic for a centre forward!

Guildford dominated play for the next ten minutes but were unable to convert a number of good chances. TH & D only had a few attacks but scored twice before half time.

After the interval Guildford continued to dominate possession but could not convert a number of short corners and open play opportunities. The guys battled hard and their efforts were rewarded when Ross Fergusson equalised with about ten minutes to go. Guildford pushed forward for the win but it was not to be.

The guys came off the pitch despondent thinking that perhaps the promotion chances had gone, but fortunately sport is not predictable. Banbury who are Guildford's promotion rivals surprisingly lost so the home game against them this coming Saturday is crucial. If Guildford win they will move into second place above Banbury.

Tulse Hill & Dulwich 2 - Guildford 2 (Goal scorers: Alex Fitter, Ross Fergusson)
