Guildford Under 10 Girls were out in force playing both home and away matches on Sunday. Plenty of goals scored and lots of learning...
Home Matches v Old Kingstonians
Team Storm
Great performance by the Guildford Storm team today. The girl’s focused on passing the ball accurately, using their wing to drive the ball down towards the goal, positioning themselves well in the D and getting their shots at goal on target.
We won both games 4-0. The girls ran their socks off, listened to instruction and worked well as a team. Some great individual performances but overall the team continues to get stronger week on week – they are such a committed and positive bunch of girls and are a delight to coach.
As we were against opposition of mixed ability the girls were able to try out different positions, which worked very well and boosted their confidence.
There wasn't much activity at our goal but any attacks were well defended by our backs and Bibi was quick to boot any possible goals well out of the way.
Squad: Bibi (GK) Olivia, Tilly, Imogen, Charlotte, Caitlyn, Annabelle, Ella, Molly, Amelie.

Team Fire
Another good outing for the u10 girls against decent opposition.
We played Old Kingstonians twice and played with a lot more width and decent ball speed. The girls have been working hard in training on passing early and working hard to get ahead of the ball and this was evident Sunday.
Lots of good passing from the back from Rosie, Holly and Jemima. Good running in midfield from Martha R and Hannah on the flanks and also Eliza in the middle. Martha M did well in midfield and Isla cleared well at the back. Lots of goals came from Poppy upfront and in both games we were able to rotate the girls through a variety of positions so they can be aware of different roles within the team.
After 2 decent wins we then faced the Guildford side very keen to upset the apple cart and put pressure on Team Fire. A very close game saw us come away with a 2 gal win but lots of good competition and the girls working hard to pass the ball.
Thanks to all the coaches helping week in and week out with the mighty u10 girls.
Squad: Holly, Rosie, Eliza , Grace (GK), Jemima, Martha R, Martha M, Isla, Poppy, Hannah

Away Matches v Wimbledon
Team Hurricanes
A lovely sunny day! People were on time and ready to play!
First up we played against, Wimbledon Cs, Guildford won 1-0. Scorer: Emily. Some good play, people finding their feet. Alex did well in defence as did Martha in the middle of the park. Our goal was not troubled.
Next game: Guildford C won 4-0 vs Guildford D. A close game. 4 goals in quick succession at the end of the game flattered the C team. Scorers: Emily 2, Evie & Kitty
Finally we played Wimbledon D. We won 7-0. I asked specifically for Evie, Hatty and Eve not just to whack it forward so they thought about their passing and played around the back, which was great to see as they listened and really tried to do something different. They played well as a team and were great in front of goal. Scorers: Emily 3, Eve 2, Martha, Kitty.
Squad: Evie, Alexandra, Emily, Eve, Tallulah, Kitty, Hatty, Charlotte, Martha
Coach: Rob
Team Lightning
Our first match was against Wimbledon D and we drew 0-0. We then played Guildford Hurriances which was an unfortunate 4-0 loss. Finally we played the Wimbledon C and lost 1-0.
Overall a good performance by the team. The girls understood their positions and generally communicated well. A bit more work need to be done on passing to a team member or driving the ball forward if no pass is available rather than hitting the ball forward and losing it to the other team. We will focus on this in training.
The girls are improving on a weekly basis and continue to put in more and more effort which brought about a better team performance. Isobel was great at defending. Good clearances from Rosie and good runs by Emilia and Frankie up front.
Squad; Isobel, Bea, Mimi, Evie, Rosie, Emilia, Elsa and Elise
Coach: Mercedes
