Two teams of Under 10 Girls played in a tournament with East Grinstead and Sunbury & Walton Hawks. A great day out including one team undefeated and the other winning all but one match...
Team A
Against opposition with mixed experience the girls focused on trying to pass the ball, play with some width and get shots on target.
We managed to win all our games and had the best challenge against the East Grinstead A team. This proved to be a tighter affair than all the other games and we won 2-0 after some strong tackling and hard running from all the girls.
All the girls ran their socks off and all played in a mixture of positions to get used to being in different roles and different parts of the pitch. This will aid their long term development and enhance their game awareness.
We also did very well not to concede a single goal all day.

Team B
All in all a good morning, especially for the midfielders and forwards who had the lion's share of the ball in our first three games. The girls quickly took advantage of open sidelines, successfully driving the ball down both wings and crossing the ball into the D.
Five goals were scored in our first game, 9 in our second and 5 in our third. No goals were conceded in the first 3 games so the defense had a relatively quiet time.
All of that was to change in our 4th game when we were up against our greatest challenge of the day. The girls started off strong but after a disallowed goal and a slight drop in energy levels we started to lose the upper hand. They ran their socks off as the ball moved rapidly from one end of the pitch to the other but unfortunately East Grinsted managed to sneak two goals in against our one.
Very proud of their performance as a team. The girls looked up and sought out their team members, they used the wings effectively and even at times changes the side of play. Energy levels were definitely a contributor to our defeat in the final game. Lots to works on but overall they should all be proud of their performance – well done !
We played 4 games, won 3 and lost 1
