BU12 v Wimbledon 11 a side

 12th Feb 2017

The team played a very strong 11-a side team on Sunday from Wimbledon which gave the boys a real test of their skills. Two or our players had yet not played 11 a side on the full pitch before so this was a bruising encounter as a first off!!

Team was – Oscar D, James D, James Mundy, Joseph, Sam, Ted, Joe H, Sam W, Liam, Henry C, Alfie, Oscar & Ollie de GW.

GHC 0 – 6 Wimbledon

We went 2-0 down early on and at that point, the opposition coach pointed out that I only had 10 players on the pitch at the time so clearly the coach (ME!) takes the blame for not being able to count properly!!! SORRY BOYS!!!

There were some good periods of play towards the end of the game which shows that the boys finally understood that they can use the whole pitch to pass the ball around. In summary we got taught a lesson by Wimbledon in how to stay in position and not get caught drifting into the middle of the pitch. We also got caught ball watching and not marking which meant their players got into a lot more space behind us and they had numerous shots at our poor keeper.

Oscar was definitely the man of the match for making over 10 top saves. After the match the opposition coach came over to find him and congratulate him.

Well done to Henry and Alfie for their first 11-a side game!
