The Under 10 Girls participated with two teams in an eclectic festival hosted by Surbiton today. We had the pleasure of playing a range of teams from the mighty Surbiton to the much smaller Addiscombe. A great day out and some very good hockey and results.

What a great team effort today. All the training we have been doing as of late was put in to action. I watched the girls play a wide game today continuously using the wings to successfully transport the ball up to our oppositions D. The girls were a force to be reckoned with on the defence side making it pretty impossible for any of the teams we played against to get anywhere near the goal. The girls remained calm and in control, ensuring they held on to the ball until they could find a team member to pass to.
In the first couple of games we had plenty of opportunities to score goals but unfortunately we just weren't able to get the ball over the line. The girl's sheer determination paid off in the third game with three powerful and well positioned strikes. The girls carried on their crusade into the 4th game scoring another two unstoppable strikes at goal. Not surprisingly the energy levels began to waver by the last game and unfortunately tiredness hindered our overall play allowing our competitors to score two goals.
I was incredibly proud of all of the girls performance today. They should all be proud of the way they played, it really was a fantastic team effort. A very impressive team performance, plenty to work on but plenty to be proud of.
If they can continue to improve at this rate they really will become a force to be reckoned with by next year !

All in all a great effort from the squad against a good Surbiton set of teams at Reeds School. The weather was amazing and the girls were very keen to work hard as a team.
We played 6 fairly frenetic games and the whole team rolled on and off as substitutes. Great start against Addiscombe with Charlotte scoring one of the goals and a lot of hustle and bustle from the forwards. Hanna ran her socks off and Lucy was always keen to support on the wing. 2nd game saw us narrowly lose but Tilly, Liv and Jemima all worked hard in defence and Emma made a few great saves. rd game we drew with the Guildford A team and was a tight affair. We soaked up a lot of pressure and Martha and Phoebe did well in midfield to disrupt the opposition. Game 4 we were overrun by the strongest Surbiton team but Emma made a series of saves and Immy did well tracking back and tackling the waves of attackers. The 5th game saw a better performance and just missed out 1-0 and then the final game we drew with Addiscombe.
Overall a lot of fun, plenty to work on in terms of passing the ball wider but some promising signs from the girls and lots to be happy about. Well done.
