GU18 v Richmond

 13th Nov 2016

The U18 Girls had their second game of the season at the weekend. Pleasingly, they had a full squad of U18s supplemented by two under 16s and were all eager to play...

Guildford started the game quite defensively and Richmond capitalised with wave after wave of attacks and soon scored despite the valiant effort of Holly in goal. Guildford started to find their feet and create some attacks of their own. Unfortunately, they were not able to take advantage. Richmond continued to attack and won several penalty corners. Eventually they scored a second goal to take a 0-2 lead at half time.

The second half started more evenly, Charlotte who was playing her first game for two years grew in confidence and started to make some decisive moves, linking up with Bea, Naimh and Eloise, but still they could not score. Richmond managed to score a third goal. Their pressure continued and Holly made some great saves and was supported well by Annie, who cleared the line on more than one occasion. Naimh who came in at the last minute to replace an ill player played at a high work rate and consistently turned defence into attack.

Overall it was a good game and the team worked extremely hard and despite the 0-3 loss enjoyed themselves and went away determined to seek a more favourable result in the next game
