BU16 South Team progress in Play-offs

 20th Mar 2016

20160320BU16SouthHuddle-200The Under 16 Boys compete in four different leagues this season. The South League team has done really well to win all of their league matches and to be in the play-offs for a place in League Finals Day taking place 1st May...

Their first play-off was against Blackheath which really went down to the wire. 3-3 at full time. 4-4 after extra time and then a dripping penalty shoot-out that went to three sudden death flicks with Guildford coming out winners.

In this round we were up against West Herts. Guildford starting pressing hard. After two minutes we had a short corner - we messed up making something of the injection but some quick recovery and thinking had Freddy cross the ball in for a waiting Oli who got a stick on it for our first goal. Michael came on after a few minutes and within another few had a hatrick. West Herts didn't really know what hit them. But all credit to them for sticking with it and never giving up.

At half time if was 6-0 and then a further 6 goals went in during the second half. West Herts still didn't give up and were rewarded for their efforts with 2 goals of their own.

The scoreline belies how much back and forth there was on the pitch and Alex in goal did have a fair amount to do (and do well).

Thanks to West Herts for making the trek to Guildford and for a good effort.

Well done to all of our boys - all played well and played well as a team.

A huge thank you to Rob Clift for coaching most if not all of the South League matches and a few of the South+ ones as well. Rob, your experience and manner has been a real gift to the boys. Thank you again and again!
