Ladies Back to Hockey Win

 6th Feb 2016

LadiesB2H-200Congratulations to the valiant team of nine who battled through the wind yesterday to an absolutely superb 4-3 win over Reigate Priory Ladies’ 5’s...

It was always going to be a tough ask to get a side together in under a week when Reigate Priory sent out an invitation for an away friendly. Touch and go until the last minute, but with everybody who was available keen to get out and play, the opposition generously offered to help out with a couple of their players to even things up.

We got off to a great start, using the space well and quickly settling in to positions with some fantastic work on both wings and some incisive play in the centre, cutting out the opposition’s passes. At the back we were just not letting the opposition through with some fantastic clearances keeping us out of danger. At half time we were in the unusual but delightful position of being 3-1 up.

Losing one of our helpers at half time meant we played the 2nd half with 10 to the opposition’s 12. With no subs available tiredness was beginning to set in but everybody continued to work hard and when Reigate scored we found some extra reserves and pulled another back, ending the game at 4-3.

This was such an encouraging performance from the whole side - fantastic work by everyone and great fun.

Thank you to everyone who was able to play at such short notice and everyone who was with us in spirit, and also to Jeremy for your support in coming out to umpire.

Look forward to seeing you all back on Monday.
