Gondoliers win in return match v Havant

 2nd Jan 2016

Despite the hiccup against Oxted when we threw away victory (also notable for the day Regan got sent off for verbal abuse and Kuhle uncharacteristically buttoned his lip) the juggernaut marched on with an emphatic victory against a Havant side that was substantially the same that had beaten us earlier in the season.

Were there any connections between the games? New Years Resolution Kuhle kept his mouth buttoned again although it was a struggle, Sturgess avoided repeating his previous performance by absenting himself (claiming he was under the thumb), there was no Regan (our short corner success has improved) and nobody was carded.

Other than that we had the run of the pitch (at least Manning took full advantage of this freedom) and Basey ventured forward to flick a good shot into the goal from a Carney (short corner) pass. Windsor-Lewis tried to end the game early by a deflection that nearly decapitated their umpire. As this may be James last game he was pleased to be on the winning side once again. Many thanks to HP who saved himself for next week and should have written the match report

As for Havant they concluded, that after their initial break of four wins, they had run out of luck.
