Sunday’s game with Woking ended as a 0 – 0 draw despite us looking like the stronger side.
We dominated the first and last periods with the second period being much closer with Woking pressing a bit.
The girls really worked hard as a team with the defence unit of Grace, Cat and Angelina working extremely well together. Woking did not really have a shot the whole game and Raph didn’t touch the ball once. Millie was a bit of a revelation playing sweeper and picked up so much loose ball and Alice broke up lots of Woking possession.
The midfield and forwards combined very well and constantly tackled the Woking players together and stopped them building any real attacks. The girls really put the pressure on Woking’s hits from the 16 line and we constantly won the ball back from their hits out.
The last period was all Guildford attacking with Sophie, Izzie, Anna and Charlie constantly stretching the defence but sadly we could not find the winning goal.
Overall, despite the very blustery conditions, it was a very encouraging performance.
