BU16s Finish Top of Tier 1 Pool in EH Cup

 8th Nov 2015

The Under 16 Boys are competing once again this year in the England Hockey Championships also known as the National Cup. Drawn into the West League 4 Pool alongside East Grinstead, Jersey, Horsham and Woking, the boys needed to come top two in the table to qualify for the Tier 2 round.

Job done. The boys played East Grinstead (many thanks to EG for agreeing to move the match from 7 Feb to 4 Oct so we could play Havant on 7 Feb instead of 6 Dec so we can go to Barcelona - complicated but it worked out and thanks again EG).

Probably our best performance on the Cup so far came in our first match against EG. We were building as a team and remembering to pass the ball early (thanks Toby). Netted 7 goals and let in none.

Then came a triangular tournament including Horsham and Jersey hosted by Horsham. Thanks this time to Horsham for being such lovely hosts and to Jersey for having travelled so far. No goals conceded and we scored 7 in two matches, 3-0 and 4-0.

Another win v Woking saw us through as pool winners with a 6-1 win (5-0 in the first half but we didn't perform in the second half and Woking improved their defence).

Now we wait until the end of February for Tier 2. Much work to be done between now and then.
