Shadows Slide in v Barnes

 1st Nov 2014

Barnes 0 - 1 Shadows

M.O.M - Jim (sliding in)

D.O.D - Tom C (spilling beer and inability to eat properly)

What a difference a week makes.....

Last week our 4-2 victory over Bank of England was a triumph for hard work and converting our chances. This week the final touch eluded us.

After 1hr 45mins for the journey to Barnes in Saturday afternoon traffic and a 5 minute warm up we struggled to get going and our passing and touch showed this.

The Barnes side we were facing were equally asleep and there final pass also left a lot to be desired.

Our game dropped to their level but we kept pressing and nearing the end of the first half and during our third short corner we scored! The Barnes keeper wasn't ready for a very week flick directly at him and could only palm the ball straight down. Luke was quickest to pounce and under our shouts of "get it in" managed to role it over the line between a flurry of legs and sticks.

In the second half the game continued to frustrate both sides. We had the majority of possession but the final killer instinct in the D was missing. 10 minutes from the end Barnes had a claim for a goal but the final touch in the D was by Rob and not their striker as he tried to claim.

Special mentions......

Jim - Note to self. Impressive sliding equals M.O.M so keep sliding in!!

Jack - 10/10 for effort travelling to Barnes after a game on the South Coast.

Luke - Please buy a bigger stick! You could have had 6 goals if only you'd managed to touch the ball.

Henry - Our first clean sheet of the season!!! Marcus do we need you back?!?!
