W2s in Narrow Loss at Home

 24th Oct 2020

20201010-W2-4The Women's 2s had the first pushback slot at home today on the Blue pitch and quickly showed their ability to make quick sharp passes.

After a strong first 15 minutes for GHC, Surbiton 4s stepped up their game and tightened up their defence to make our lives a little bit tricker. Finally, we had a breakthrough, Captain Connie Hyndman made an impressive run past several of the Surbiton players to smash the ball into the back of the net!

Surbiton, unfortunately, hit back with a breakaway goal and a contentious penalty stroke. Despite several other close attempts from short corners and from open play, Guildford could not find a way through and the match finished 1-2, following our unfortunate trend this season to lose at home and win on the road - something we are hoping to change in the run up to Christmas!!

A big well done to Emily Burke for her Player of the Match accolade, awarded for her fantastic positioning and wonderful stick skills, the latter resulting in cards for the opposition for their bad tackles in response!
