The Women's 2s travelled away to Spencer for their 4th league match of the season...
It was a quick and fast-paced game, with Guildford having to show real determination for each and every ball. Spencer proved a hard defence to break, but the team really capitalised on their few chances with a long range strike from Alice Welland hitting the back of the net, before Caitlin Davis laid her stick down for a beautifully timed deflection to give us a 2-0 lead.
It wasn’t long before Spencer’s quick forwards were able to gain a goal back to take the score to 2-1. The team then had to battle hard for the rest of the match, making strong tackles and important interceptions to break up Spencer’s usual play.
It was a huge relief to hear the full time whistle just after Guildford had been awarded a short corner. A straight strike from Rachael Selmes at the top took a deflection to end the game 3-1 to Guildford.
Player of the match went to our goalkeeper, Dora Savory, for ensuring the three points were ours with her sterling saves!
