Guildford Women’s 1st XI’s first home game of the season welcomed newly promoted Oxford City to Broadwater.
Guildford started well, creating opportunities, but Oxford consistently broke the game down. Unfortunately - following a Guildford attack - an injury to one of the Oxford players delayed the game for a considerable length of time. Upon the resumption Guildford battled hard and won a penalty corner. This was converted by Julia “JJ” Blackstock to give the home team the lead at half time.
The second half saw Oxford attack hard and, following a scramble in the D, they were awarded a penalty stroke. This was converted to bring the scores level at 1-1.
Guildford fought hard and had the majority of the possession for the remainder of the half and found the net from a well worked series of passes converted by Hannah Bodoano. The final score: 2-1 to Guildford.
