Men's 1st team in Season Opener at Tunbridge Wells

 26th Sep 2020

20200926-M1vTunbridgeWellsPlaying Tunbridge Wells in the season curtain-raiser...the excitement was palpable...

The chance to throw down the shackles of Covid-19 and once again play competitive sport meant the squad was buzzing with energy (whilst standing in the rain imagining the warmth of yesteryear's changing rooms). A new coach and new players-a-plenty, this had all the makings of a New Model Army esq victory.

Wind forward 70 minutes and the story was remarkably similar to many matches last year. We went ahead. We gave the opposition a sniff. We very nearly ruined a good trip to Kent. But we did come out on top. Just.

Goals came from Ross Ferguson, Matt Fitter (who reliably tells me he has scored in the first game of the season for the last three years) and Sam Plater. A victory 3-2.

Next week we are at the fortress of Broadwater and take on West Hampstead. The circus is in town.
