 This year the Surrey Cup competition was split into two tournaments - an "A Cup" that progresses to South (and eventually National) Finals and "B Cup" that is a level between the Surrey Cup and the Surrey Plate (which GHC hosted on 23 Feb). Surrey Cup B - Semi-finalists
In the B cup, the GHC boys lost on the second round penalties in the semi final against Old Cranleighans who then went on to win the final. We had a little luck on our side, finishing the group equal on points and goal difference with London Wayfarers, but we progressed to the knockout stages based on the flick of a coin.
Surrey Cup A - Gold Medals and Though to South Finals
The BU12 won the Surrey A Cup beating Surbiton 2-0 in the final and without conceding a goal.
Despite a slow start the boys won all of their group games, before playing their best hockey in the semi final against Dragons beating them 3-0.
Both squads played some impressive hockey, attacking at pace and full of commitment in defence. A special mention to the goalkeepers Seb and Zach who played superbly in every game, keeping our teams in the tournament a number of times.
Overall, a successful day resulting from a strong team ethic and commitment. |
