 I am a day or two late in writing my match review...mainly because I've had to learn to walk again after some seriously sore muscles!
At the top of the congratulations list has to be Juliet's hat-trick! Her first, I think, in ladies hockey. No doubt the first of many!
Getting the team together was challenging to put it mildly - Lisa Collins stepped into goal for us - her first time ever. Jo Ninian played her first serious game in about 8 years. And Angela discovered headbutting the other team is not pleasant.
With only one sub, a lot of people played a full game - great stickability from Juliet, Robyn, Izzy, Becks and Jo as there was a lot of running to be done.
Solid defending from Sarah, Eloise, Helena and Angela kept us in the game in the first half, knowing they were losing a gk in the second.
Eve, Izzy and Robyn created so many chances, but the packed D was resilient. Lots of opportunities for Juliet and Jo and many short corners later we had scored 4, but a final Calpham Common PC was sadly one too many. A close and sad loss 5:4.
But a nice improvement from the reverse fixture when we lost to this Clapham Common 3s team - who are now 2nd in the league table behind Clapham Common 2s - 4:7.
