Men's 1s in Excellent Win Away From Home

 29th Feb 2020

20191020-Mens1TeamThis past weekend saw the GHC Men’s first team head back to the venue where we sealed the title last season in the South Prem 2, guaranteeing our promotion into this league. Having lost at home last round, this was another game we were hoping to win.

It was a solid first half. GHC limited the Wycombe side to only a few counter attacks which Jayme Crouch handled with ease. Wycombe are one of the hardest working and most well organised teams in our league and we had to be at our very best to score goals and take away three points.

And some of our very best resulted in the goal of the season, which came through a series of phases of high-quality ball retention, ultimately opening up space down the right-hand side for the three midfielders to exploit before setting up Chas Richardson for his second of the game.

Although Chas Richardson scored a brace, it was Jayme Crouch who took ‘Man of the Match’ honours for a fantastic performance in goal, narrowly missing out on what would have been an excellent clean sheet.

This week we are home against Banbury HC, another hard working side that is packed with experience and should be further up the table that what they are. They were excellent hosts to us in the first half, let’s make sure we return the favour. Come and support: Saturday 7 March 3pm at GHC.
