With Storm Dennis just getting going, the Gondos took to the pitch to play their second fixture of the season against old rivals Woking at Goldsworth Park.
Woking had a large squad with many quality players and it initially looked like it might be a long afternoon. The first quarter saw complete domination from Woking with three goals within 15 minutes from quality interplay that caught the Gondos defence with their pants down.
Slowly some balance began to return to the team, and Guildford only managed to concede 2 more before half time, but more importantly managed to score one of their own through a Shelbourne short corner. Half time score 5-1 down.
The half time talk was along the lines of “let’s not give up” and “let’s treat the second half as a different game completely” and that’s what happened! Miraculously the Gondos managed to win the second half with some spirited defence and a goal from Mullins. It was with some relief when the final whistle went and everyone seemed very happy to return to the clubhouse for hot showers and renowned Woking hospitality.
