A typical GHC weekend starts Friday evening with Junior Club Night - children running onto the pitch to enjoy skills and games with experienced coaches while their parents socialise and spectate from the bar.
A quick night’s sleep and on come the Saturday league matches for the Adult teams where players, coaches, umpires and supporters all gather to play and watch the matches and enjoy post-match gatherings; more Junior training follows until the bar or evening’s social event closes down.
Sunday morning brings more excitement with Adult league matches and many Junior fixtures including tournaments often bringing over a hundred people together at the Club.
Training sessions take over the weekday evenings, including fitness, social hockey and the more intense work-outs of the top teams. And around comes the weekend again...
All of the above happens thanks to the goodwill and energy of the many volunteers who are the players, player parents and friends of Guildford Hockey Club. We are sending out a huge THANK YOU to all who helped make every event happen last season!
You probably know what is coming next…and yes, we are always looking for more help to carry on the tradition of everyone enjoying their hockey experience at Guildford. The Club is managed purely on the basis of volunteers; please don’t be shy - there are plenty of hockey and non-hockey roles. A list of roles needed is here:
Ask your captain or squad manager what help they need or get in touch with any of the Officers of the Club - we are very grateful for all offers of help. And grateful to all of our volunteers!
We always need help with administration, junior coaching, umpiring and more. Contact your Captain or Squad Manager to get involved or send us a quick note...
