Under 18 Boys Retain National Indoor Title!!
GHC Under 18 Boys retained their South Indoor crown on 16 December. Along with runners-up Marlow, Guildford progressed to the England Hockey Super6s Finals held in Telford 19-20 January which included the top two teams from each of five regions from across the country.
The GHC boys won all of their pool matches putting them top of Pool A and setting up a Semi-final against Marlow who had lost their first two pool B matches and valiantly clawed their way back to fnish second in their pool. The result was a 2-2 draw, and the boys showed their mettle winning the shootout 3-2 in the first round of sudden death.
The Final was a hotly contested match with the Guildford 9 maybe having slightly less fresh legs than the Bowdon 12. But smart play and stalwart defending of our 1-0 lead when Bowdon resorted to a kicking back for the final 2.5 minutes meant that we preserved the lead and even snuck in a breakaway goal into an open net in the final seconds of the match.
Well done to all and an especially big thanks and congratulations to Edward Tristem who coached the team during his xmas uni break in the South competition alongside Dan Fox and took them to the Nationals for the second year running. That's a 2 for 2 record of National Gold for Edward in coaching National Indoor Finals!

2018/19 Season Well Underway
Following a terrific 2017/18 season all around, GHC are building on promotion of the Ladies 1s, a strong finish from the Men's 1s and National and Regional titles for the Juniors. We are attracting more players and coaches and looking forward to another terrific season:
- Gary Boucher remains as our Men's 1st XI coach after a competitive and strong 2017/18 season finishing just out of title and promotion contention. The Men are having some training over the summer already and Gary is attracting new talent to GHC, too.
- Following the superb result of promotion to South Div 2, Shay O'Connell will coach our Ladies 1s again in 2018/19. The Ladies are looking forward to another strong and enjoyable season.
- Dan Fox continues as Director of Junior Coaching, working with our professional coaches and also our large group of volunteer coaches (mostly parents and older juniors) to train and educate using the best and latest techniques and tips from the England Hockey Player Pathway and Golden Thread.
These three outstanding coaches also work together to share information and learning for the benefit of the club.
Our 2s and lower teams also benefit from coaching sessions mid-week provided. And we will continue to run 'Back to Hockey' sessions for those new to the sport or looking to get back into it after time away.
There are many more plans in process to make 2018/19 another happy, successful season at Guildford. We welcome new players, coaches, umpires, spectators, supporters, etc. Please don't hesitate to .
