 The annual Godalming Sports Awards took place on Friday and a number of GHC teams and individuals from the club were in the final nominations for awards. Rosie L from last year's Under 10 Girls’ squad has written a report about what was a successful evening for Guildford Hockey Club...
On Friday the 26th October Guildford Ladies 1st X1, Andrew Fergusson and the Under 10A Girls’ team went to The Sport Godalming Awards at the Wilfred Noyce Centre, Godalming.
Some of the guests of honour were The Mayor and Mayoress of Godalming, the Mayor of Waverley Borough Council and the Guest Speaker Ken Schofield. The host told us the achievements of each nominee in the top three and announced the winners.
The club won trophies in all three events that they were short listed for:
- The U10 girls were runners up in the Youth Team of the year section.
- Andrew won Volunteer of the Year and the
- Ladies 1XI won Adult Sports Team of the year.
After the awards, Ken Schofield talked about his experiences with the Surrey County Cricket team and the European Ryder Cup golf team. Drinks and food were served afterwards and everyone enjoyed a conversation. Well done to everyone who won an award! |
